The Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA) is the primary way adults enter into the life of the Catholic Church.
But OCIA is about much more than becoming Catholic.
It is a journey of encounter, conversion, formation, and discipleship — a path of growing in relationship with Jesus Christ and learning to live as His disciple within the Church.
Whether you are exploring Christianity for the first time, considering becoming Catholic, returning to the faith after many years away, or simply seeking a deeper understanding of what the Church teaches, we would be honored to walk with you.
At Saint Luke, our process is calledThe Way of OCIA.
The word "way" is one of the earliest names Christians used to describe the life of discipleship (Acts 9:2). Following Jesus is not simply about learning information—it is about walking a path.
The Way of OCIA seeks to accompany individuals as they encounter Christ, learn the faith, participate in the life of the Church, and discover their place within the parish family.
Rather than merely preparing for sacraments, we seek to form missionary disciples with hearts on fire for the risen Lord.
One of the greatest misunderstandings about OCIA is that it is simply a class.
The Way of OCIA is not primarily about completing lessons or passing requirements.
It is a journey of conversion—a process of allowing Jesus Christ to transform every aspect of our lives.
For some, that journey leads to Baptism, Confirmation, and First Eucharist at the Easter Vigil. For others, it becomes the beginning of a lifelong renewal of faith.
Either way, the goal remains the same: to know Jesus Christ more deeply and follow Him more faithfully.
No matter where you are in your faith journey, you are welcome here.
