Jesus is close to the brokenhearted... and so are we.
saint luke is committed to you
The heartbreak of infertility and miscarriage is hard to explain unless someone's been through it.
That's why Saint Luke takes two parallel paths toward being here for you: to accompany you with the deepest compassion and sacramental support and to also provide you with the best local and online resources we can. One out of every eight couples in the United States are dealing with the problems and suffering of infertility and miscarriage. You are not alone, and you shouldn't have to feel like you are.
In the crisis of the moment...
If you have been trying to have a family and are facing the difficult, uphill journey - or if you have experienced miscarriage, the Lord wants to meet you where you are - and so do we.
That's why our clergy and pastoral team can help you find support and empathy for what you're facing.
TALKING TO SOMEONE WHO WILL LISTEN AND HELP WITH JESUS' LOVE...
When you are facing infertility or miscarriage issues, it's hard to know what to say. Most couples feel like they've failed or that perhaps God isn't listening, but nothing could be further from the truth. The Church is committed to you, and with the sacraments to help console you and offer great support, our priests and deacons want to make sure you know that.
When should I reach out to a priest or deacon at Saint Luke?
As soon as you need to.
It's that simple. Our priests and deacons have specialized training and understanding about family life and human struggles to help you work through the pain you're feeling in healthy and holy ways and can advise you on how the sacraments can strengthen you to find Christ even in the midst of your suffering.
Because of this, when you reach out, we can make appointments as soon as possible.
What do we do with our baby if we miscarry or he or she is stillborn? The hospital is saying that we should just "let them handle it."
JEANNIE CALLAWAY, MAPL
No matter how you have lost your child, our hearts are broken with you. No words can help soften the heartache, but many hospitals, despite well intentioned staff, take the position of handling a miscarriage in the same way that they would handle any other human tissue.
But you are so important to us and your baby deserves the dignity of proper burial and proper care. Because we respect both you and your baby, no matter how small, we partner with amazing people and organizations here in our community who can help provide you with tender and compassionate care for your child at little or no cost to you.
All it takes is a call to Jeannie Callaway, our Pastoral Associate, and she will immediately advise you and help you make arrangements. The hardships you are facing are deeply personal and private, and your confidentiality is tremendously important to us. What you discuss with any member of our pastoral team will be kept in the strictest of confidence. She can also provide you with initial support and help to listen and connect you with other members of the team.
Facing the future together...

MARY BRUNO, CRMS
Because of the painful issues of infertility, it's often hard to know the right decisions to make moving forward. That's why we've partnered with one of the best Catholic specialists and voices on the topic: Mary Bruno. Her family's story is colored by a great many of the feelings and concerns you're dealing with, but her experience and special understanding of the relationship between science and faith can help you really feel like you have a way to discern rightly.
For nearly five years, Mary has been part of our conversation at Saint Luke with young couples preparing for marriage, and we can promise that her blog, her coaching, and her resources will be a great blessing to you as you navigate your decisions and feelings. Her incredible book, "Twelve Stripes Deep" is a brilliantly written, powerful story about her personal experience of suffering through physical pain and infertility to explore authentic women's healthcare and communicate a greater reality of the great joy and purpose God desires for each person, despite - and even because of - the hardships of life.
