First Communion is the Sacrament by which we receive the True Presence of Jesus Christ in the Holy Eucharist for the very first time. Celebrating this Sacrament is so much more than a one-day event, but the beginning of a lifetime of receiving the Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Jesus. Because of this, it is important to prepare ourselves to receive this Sacrament often and worthily.
Preparation for First Reconciliation and First Communion is for those who are in First and Second Grade, and have already been baptized. If this applies to you, we invite you to begin our special preparation process!
Our preparation program for First Reconciliation and First Communion begins in the Fall. After registering, this year's calendar will be shared with you.
In accordance with archdiocesan policy, preparation for the sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Communion is a two-year process. More details will be given as we approach the beginning of preparation.
The first year of preparation covers:
an overview of both of these sacraments,
an in-depth teaching on the Sacrament of Reconciliation, and
an introduction on how to go to Confession.
The second year of preparation covers:
how to go to Confession,
an in-depth teaching on the Sacrament of Holy Communion, and
