This year's annual races are dedicated to honoring all of the past and present deacons of St. Luke the Evangelist Catholic Church and the countless ways they have served our parish and our community.
A deacon's ministry extends far beyond the altar. Through their dedication to the Church, their families, and those in need, our deacons have been there to celebrate life's joyful moments, comfort us during times of sorrow, visit the sick and homebound, serve the poor, and offer guidance, prayer, and encouragement to so many.
Their service is a powerful example of what it means to live out our Catholic faith—not simply through words, but through a life dedicated to serving others.
This year, we honor that legacy by turning our race into an opportunity to serve as well. All proceeds from the race will be donated to "One Way Love" in honor of our past and present deacons, supporting their mission of helping young people in our community who are facing difficult circumstances.
So whether you run or walk, every step is a tribute.
We run to honor their service.
We walk to celebrate their legacy.
And together, we serve in their footsteps.

Our Story: From Brokenness to Healing, From Hope to Action
One Way Love was born from a deep understanding of struggle—and the belief that healing is possible when people have the support they need.
Our co-founders, Rosemary and Sandra, know firsthand what it means to walk through brokenness and come out the other side. Their personal journeys, shaped by hardship, resilience, and ultimately transformation, ignited a passion to create a place where young people facing crisis could find stability, support, and hope.
What started as a small outreach effort to help at-risk youth has grown into a community-driven public charity, working to break cycles of homelessness, food insecurity, and systemic barriers that keep young people from thriving.
Through partnerships with St. Tammany Parish Public Schools and the Kids In Transition (KIT) program, One Way Love now serves 150+ students annually, providing them with the resources and relationships they need to build independent, empowered futures.

Deacon Paul AugustinAfter being parishioners at St. Margaret Mary Church in Slidell, He and Pam were warmly welcomed to St. Luke’s Parish. He loved serving God and was known for his homilies and giving us “homework.” He was always available to assist our altar servers, and cherished his family deeply. One of his greatest joys as a Deacon was baptizing babies, especially his grandchildren, administering First Communion to several of them. Above all, Deacon Paul’s passion was bringing families into the Church and people closer to Christ.
