Adoration Chapel FAQ

As you prepare for a visit to the chapel, consider what things you may want with you once you are in the chapel.

For example: rosary, Bible, missalette, devotional books, a journal, or anything else.

The Chapel is now locked between the hours of 6 PM and 6 AM, so you must know the keycode in order to enter. A code can be assigned to you from Sylvia Riera.  If your Holy Hour is not during these times, you don't need you can still have the code so that you can go to the Chapel anytime.

A helpful preparation includes trying your best to be silent in the car on the way there. Consider it a spiritual wind-down session! As you get out of your car and lock your door, don't forget to take all of your issues with you! Leave no worry, concern, problem, struggle, or suffering in the car! You're bringing all of that to Jesus.

Before you enter the chapel, make sure your phone is on silent. It's okay to put your phone on "vibrate," in case someone at home needs to reach you, but don't take other calls while with Jesus.

As you enter, go to kneel at the kneeler in front of the monstrance. Take a few deep breaths to quiet yourself. Then begin:

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

O Jesus, as I kneel before You, Your Most Sacred Heart is opened up to me. Every grace, every gift, every comfort, every blessing is opened up to me. I have done nothing to deserve this incredible love from You, Lord, and yet You love me anyway. Even when I am totally and completely closed-off to You, Your Heart is opened up to me.

And so, my Jesus, as Your Heart is opened to me, I offer You my works.
(Name any and all of the things you've done, those things you should have done, or those things you could have done better.)

My Jesus, I offer You also my joys.  
(Name any and all of the joys in your life: good memories, material blessings, friends and family, etc.)

My Jesus, I offer You my sufferings. I may not be the best at carrying Your Cross, but I offer You my attempts. I offer You those moments when I wanted to lash out in anger but didn't, when I endured afflictions of others, when I didn't complain or judge or gossip. Lord, I offer You any and all of my physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual sufferings. I offer you the sufferings of all in my family, all those I love.  (Name any other sufferings you may have.)

My Jesus, I offer you my thanks and praise. (Name any things you have to be grateful for.)

My Jesus, I offer You also my prayers. (Name any intentions you may think of.)

And now, Lord, I ask that You quiet my heart. Help me to be still for however long I have left. Help me to be quiet, to listen, to find rest here in this moment with You.

At this point, feel free to take a seat. Depending on how much time you have, you may choose to sit in the quiet, pray with Scripture, read a spiritual book, pray the rosary, etc.
 
 When you are running out of time, consider returning to the kneeler in front of the monstrance to thank God for this precious time with Him. Ask for the assistance of Mary, the angels, and saints as you leave. Perhaps pray the "Glory Be."
 
 Then pray: "May the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, in the Most Blessed Sacrament of the Altar, be praised, adored, and loved by every heart, in every tabernacle of the world, even until the end of time. Amen."

When you are finished, rise from the kneeler, genuflect towards the monstrance, then exit quietly. And praise God for the gift of this holy time spent with Him! (And come back soon!)

As you enter, teach your child(ren) how to genuflect; then go to kneel at the kneeler (or around it) in front of the monstrance. Encourage your child(ren) to take a few deep breaths. Then begin:

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

O Jesus, as we kneel before You, we know that You love us so much! Every single thing in our lives and anything we may need, You are ready to give to us. Even when we have done things we shouldn't have, You are still here waiting for us to come back to You.

Help us, Jesus, to be still and quiet and to really mean the prayer we are about to say.

Lord, we come with all kinds of gifts to give You.

First, we remember all the things we have done this week.   (Name all the activities and works you may have done.)  We thank you for all these things, Lord, because even work is a gift from You!

Second, Jesus, we give you all of our joys. We thank You so much for the gift of family life. Even when someone gets on our nerves, or upsets us, or angers us... Lord, we know that he/she is Your gift to us! We offer You the laughter, the fun, the silly and goofy moments, the smiles, the little moments of relief, the brief moments of calm, the relief of sleep.  (Name any happy and fun memories you may thing of.)

My Jesus, we offer You our sufferings. We may not be the best at carrying Your Cross, but we offer You our attempts. We offer You those moments when we wanted to lash out in anger but didn't, when we were kind and gentle though others treated us badly, when we didn't complain or judge or gossip.
