FIRE + BLAZE SERVICE TEAMS There's an opportunity to serve for adults and teenagers at FIRE and/or BLAZE nights! Lots of talent levels, strengths, and skills make our Faith Formation nights a thing of beauty!
LEARN MORE HERE LUX YOUTH MINISTRY The first goal of SLE's Youth Ministry is to empower our young Church to live as disciples of Jesus! We know that being a Catholic can seem daunting in a world with a million distractions and struggles, so LUX (named for the Latin word which means LIGHT! and well, because it sounds like "Luke's"!) has a commitment to help them be nourished by the Good News of Jesus through the witness and word of role models and ministers committed to their spiritual and emotional growth through all sorts of teen led Bible studies, service opportunities, great retreats, fun social events, trips to the Archdiocese of New Orleans World Youth Day, trips to international World Youth Day, and so much more!
Who can help: Confirmed Catholics (17+) who are open to helping bring out the best in youth (Grade 4 - High school seniors) and who have undergone Safe Environment Training
MARTHA'S MINISTRY This group of amazing cooks are committed to helping parish families who are expecting a new baby (or just brought one home!), have a member who is long-term ill, or who have lost a loved one. Families who assist are contacted to provide a set number of meals to help them get back on their feet.
Who can help: Families willing to make a delicious meal according to the health requirements of the family as given by the ministry head.
When: Saint Luke families who can use a meal or two need our help under unscheduled circumstances. The ministry head will contact volunteers and ask them to volunteer as their calendar/time permits.

MULTICULTURAL CLUB If you enjoy good food, lively conversation and have a curiosity for other cultures and ethnic groups that represent the wonderful diversity of Saint Luke the Evangelist and our surrounding community, this club offers that and more. Our goal is to support the Archdiocesan Racial Harmony Program by providing educational opportunities that promote a welcoming atmosphere through activities such as movie nights, our book club, ethnic dinners, and other events.
Who can help: Multicultural Club events are a great place for different members of the family to participate depending on the event. Parents can join and bring their children to help/participate at events as they think best.
When: Meetings are held on the second Monday of each month at 7:00 pm, September - May). You can also stay up to date with our events by following them on Facebook at St. Luke's Multicultural Club
For Individuals to serve and enjoy:
KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS COUNCIL AND 4TH DEGREE ASSEMBLY The Knights render financial aid to members and their families. Mutual aid and assistance are offered to sick, disabled, and needy members and their families. Social and intellectual fellowship is promoted among members and their families through educational, charitable, religious, social welfare, war relief, and public relief works.
At Saint Luke, we have a Council (#9973) and a 4th Degree Assembly (Father Seelos Assembly #2321) specifically for Knights who have attained the Fourth Degree, the highest degree within the order and which focuses on patriotic activities and community service. Our KCs often participate in events throughout the parish, especially providing assistance for Good Samaritan Ministry, FIRE and BLAZE nights, and more, along with support for other community organizations like local Special Olympics. They host annual events like their popular Golf Tournament and Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser in October of each year, as well as their many other events throughout the year.
Who can help: Membership in the Knights of Columbus is open to men 18 years of age or older who are practical (that is, practicing) Catholics in union with the Holy See. As a Knight, you can choose the projects to be involved in within your own community. You will receive regular updates from your state council regarding news and events in your area and be presented with frequent opportunities to work alongside brother Knights in local councils.
When: Our KC Council meets on the third Thursday of each month at 7:00 pm. Fourth Degree meets on the second Wednesday of each month at 7:00 pm.
